Beer Belly Anagram block

Turn bottom end into harmonics that speakers can actually reproduce.

  • X-Over sets the frequency below which lows are transformed into harmonics
  • Amount controls how much harmonic content is added
  • Bass Bleed blends the original low frequencies back into the signal
  • Level makes gain compensation quick and easy
  • Warm, adaptive distortion curve generates controlled harmonics with no mud
  • Zero-latency processing for immediate, real-time response

More punch. Less boom.

Beer Belly reinforces perceived low end without sounding muddy. Instead of boosting bass or generating sub-harmonics, it creates new harmonic content from your lows, while letting you choose how much of the original bass remains in the mix.

Harmonics on tap

At the lowest end of the audible spectrum, our hearing becomes less sensitive and speakers often struggle to reproduce frequencies cleanly and efficiently.

Sound engineers know this well, which is why low-cut filters are everywhere in mixing and live sound workflows.

Beer Belly lets you retain depth and punch without overwhelming your mix. It works in three steps:

  1. Cuts frequencies below the selected X-Over frequency
  2. Transforms those lows into higher-frequency harmonics that preserve the perception of bass
  3. Blends the generated harmonics back into the signal according to the Amount control, while optionally restoring the original lows with Bass Bleed

A global Level control makes output gain compensation quick and easy.

Curvy distortion

The heart of Beer Belly is its unusual distortion curve, which you can't possibly get from any analog device.

It was carefully designed to only generate second- and third-order harmonics, producing a warm sound while minimizing intermodulation distortion. In practice, this keeps muddiness always under control even when playing chords or having low-frequency instrument resonances come into play.

The algorithm also adapts to your playing. The level of generated harmonic content automatically follows your input intensity. The resulting sound will never sound gritty or overwhelming, unless you push the Amount control high.
